Summer is on its way and there are so many destinations that everyone should visit in their lifetime. With so many options it might be difficult to narrow the search for the best location down. However, Italy is bound to be a favourite amongst the general population. Everyone knows the Trevi Fountain and the Colosseum in Rome, but here are some little known Italian treasures.
Cefalù may not be the most well-known tourist destinations but this does not mean that it is not worthy of being seen as one of the best Italian escapes. Even though it is widely regarded on the smaller side of things, Cefalù has a lot of different landscapes to offer and there are a lot of things to see to satisfy every member of the family.
While most tourists flock to Southern Italian towns, not many travel to this gem in the Italian isle. Cefalù is close to everything including Taormina, Palermo, and Madonie National Park making it an ideal place to stay. Opt for a Sicilian villa while visiting Cefalù, that often comes with the luxury of a private pool and a fully equipped kitchen. This is an ideal option for families and anyone who wants to see as many of the sights Cefalù and the surrounding areas have to offer.
Treviso Veneto is a destination that does not exactly roll of the classical tourist’s tongue. It is something that requires a little insider knowledge of; however, it is worth the research. While the nearby (20 miles away) Venice is known by the entire world as a first class tourist destination Treviso Veneto is unfairly outshined. The medieval gates and cobblestone streets are well desired and provide some of the most picturesque scenes in all of Italy. It is well worth the trip from Venice to see the beautiful canals of this under-represented village.
If you are a history fanatic as many who travel to the beautiful country of Italy are, Herculaneum and Oplontis, Campania is for you. It is often known as the buried city of Pompeii’s little and offers insight into the lives of Ancient Romans without being widely recognised as such. It does not attract as many tourists as Pompeii and this fact makes it well worth the trek to see. The Villa of Oplontis is a palace that is very grand and includes a very large swimming pool. This is something that many people love visiting and also makes the list of things that should be seen while in this area.
Italy is a very popular destination for tourists far and wide to visit. This, however, does not mean that it has to be boring or predictable. There are places off the beaten track that can be even better than the big tourist destinations.
